About Us

Our Mission

According to recent papers published in the journals Science and Nature, the majority of COVID transmission occurs through people who don’t know that they’re infected.

One of the main ways that we can slow down the virus’ spread is to enable large-scale, inexpensive, widely-available testing that can be done in the home by untrained individuals.

Working with our philanthropic partners, we expect to make this test free for those that cannot afford it.

Our mission is to save lives, lessen the burden on the healthcare system, and allow the economy to function normally again.

Who we are

Our CEO is Biotech Pioneer, Jonathan Rothberg of 4Catalyzer.

Rothberg was awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation by President Barack Obama in 2016 for his “pioneering inventions and commercialization of next-generation DNA sequencing technologies, making access to genomic information easier, faster and more cost-effective for researchers around the world.”

Rothberg has founded several genetic sequencing companies that introduced breakthrough technology, including sequencing the first individual human genome. In 2014 he launched a startup accelerator called 4Catalyzer dedicated to the invention of smart medical devices. The first company to emerge from the accelerator, Butterfly Network, now sells a handheld ultrasound tool that provides readouts on a smartphone screen.

Our team includes over 60 molecular biologists, software engineers, machine learning scientists, clinical scientists, and technology-industry supply chain veterans.

Our advisors include the former CEO of Qiagen, Peer Schatz, and former CEO of Pepsi, Indra Nooyi.

What we are doing

We are creating a home test kit for the novel coronavirus, which will give test results through a mobile application in 30 minutes.

The user will take a mouth or throat swab, and place that swab into a tube following instructions from the mobile app.

We detect the virus’s genetic material, so our test will register as soon as a person contracts the virus. An infected person can also take our test during their recovery to determine when their body had successfully cleared the virus.

Why we are doing it

According to recent papers published in the journals Science and Nature, the majority of COVID transmission occurs through people who don’t know that they’re infected. One of the main ways that we can slow down the virus’ spread is to enable large-scale, inexpensive, widely-available testing that can be done in the home by untrained users. Working with our philanthropic partners, we expect to make this test free for those that cannot afford it.

By providing a simple self-test at home to test everyone repeatedly, we can enable infected individuals (both sick and asymptomatic) to self-quarantine and allow non-infected individuals to live their normal lives and go to work.

Our objective is to save lives, lessen the burden on the healthcare system, and allow the economy to function normally again.
